On 23 August, members of the History Society had the privilege of visiting the !Khwa ttu San Heritage Centre for an informative and compelling exploration of the history, culture, and living heritage of the San people. The visit provided valuable insight into indigenous knowledge systems, storytelling traditions, and the enduring resilience of one of Southern Africa’s oldest communities, while also challenging common misconceptions about the San past and present.
Engaging exhibitions, guided narratives, and the landscape itself offered a deeply reflective learning experience that extended far beyond textbooks. Set against the backdrop of the West Coast in one of its most beautiful seasons, the trip was not only intellectually enriching but also visually memorable, making it a truly worthwhile and meaningful excursion for all who attended.
